Consolidation of Resources Will Increase Economies of Scale and Accelerate the Qualification of Devices for CDMA Operators in All Markets

COSTA MESA, Calif., February 4, 2008 – The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) today announced the transfer of the CDG’s System Test Team (STT) work and documents to the CDMA Certification Forum (CCF) as part of an effort to provide the CDMA2000^® industry with a single, streamlined global device certification process. The consolidated process will allow vendors to achieve new economies of scale and deliver products faster when qualifying a device for multiple markets or for multiple operators within a single market. The new process will be available this year.

“The CDG sees value in having a single CDMA device certification process,” said James Person, chief operating officer of the CDG. “Recognizing the CCF as the sole device certification authority allows the CDG to increase its focus on creating common device feature and functional requirements to enable greater economies of scale and accelerate product availability. We would like to thank the System Test Team for its pioneering work in developing test guidelines that have been the cornerstone of an industry-wide device acceptance process for more than a decade.”
